Kate Giles is a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse (with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses) and a Registered Mental Health Nurse with AHPRA, as well as a proud member of AusPath. She began her career in the United Kingdom, qualifying in 2002 with a Diploma in Mental Health Nursing before earning a Degree in Health Professional Studies. Kate has dedicated her career to Child and Adolescent Mental Health, gaining extensive experience in both inpatient and community settings across the UK as well as in Australia (since 2009). She spent several years working in the Queensland Children’s Gender Service as a Nurse Navigator, conducting gender assessments both in-person and via telehealth. Kate is known for her non-judgmental and compassionate approach, with a strong passion for social justice and engaging families in the exploration of gender identity. She takes a solution-focused approach to supporting young people, ensuring they feel heard and empowered. After more than a decade in Brisbane, Kate now resides in Victoria with her family. A proud mum of two plus fur baby Maggie, she enjoys watching sports and embracing new challenges with her naturally competitive spirit.
